There's nothing going on, all my friends are either at summer camps or at their respective college-cities doing summerschool. Me, I'm just back at home, all of a sudden responsible for the five dogs that rule my house and having to clean out my room because my mom puts all her shit in it when I'm away at college.

This summer, I really need to get a job, because I'm going to be in Europe all next year, and while I will be working there, I need money because the euro is so much higher than the US dollar.

plans:(i reallly am not type a personality, i just fake it really well)

Sometime before may 25 (when q moves out) go back to CS to play for a few days.

Find a job

Summerschool- Online: Tech Writing and/or US History

@ Richland: Word Lit and Chemistry

all i need is 8 hours and i can submit an audit to receive my FIGHTIN' TEXAS AGGIE RING!! WHO9P!!

that's another thing i need money for...

also, me and michelle are going to barcelona at the end of august before our schools start up. We've met marc, pascual, his brother, judit, eric, and many other catalonians who have assured us at least a place to stay. they're so awesome. so i'm definately going to need money for that, even though marc says that all we're going to do is get drunk and go to the beach every day. that is totally fine by me. i have wanted to taste sangria from Spain all my life.

if you don't already know, I LOVE SANGRIA. (i usually settle for carlo rossi brand)

(back to plans)

go to france!!!

get a job.

spend time with friends. i really wish i could hang out more with my friends. i hung out with a new (strain/wave/subgroup) of friends towards the end of the semester, and i really enjoyed hanging out with them. i wish it could continue.

well i think i'm going to go read. i've decided that i'm going to read soooo much this summer, because i always want to during school, but never have enough time. half price books, watch out!!

johnnyg

mi semestre

So it's been a mighty long while since I wrote in this thing...
but i've been busy with class and all, on top of everything else, so i guess that's ok. despite what some of my older friends whom people oft mistake as my dad say.

let me share with you a lil bit of what the stew that is my semester contains:

Classes:
French 336- Contemporary France <-- learning about French culture (a cultured American... what?!) mostly as compared to ours, save some aspects of French society completely incomprable to ours which, obviously, aren't.
Russian 102- Beginners Russian 2 (every day)(AUDITING) <-- going to class, doing the work, not getting credit, but it's ok beacuse i'm learning at a relaxed yet not pace, unrestrained by the stressed of taking the course for credit. in my degree plan, 101 and 102 is a prerequisite, but it does not actually count as hours towards my major SO i can just learn the stuff and feel like im being extracurricular-but-not-really (because it actually is somewhere in my curriculum) while still being efficient in my schedule/life
Spanish 102 - Beginners Spanish 2 (also every day) <--- its challenging enough to where i am learning stuff but by no means hard
Kinesiology 198- Gymnastics<-- our final is a back handspring. enough said. nice donothing class.
Linguistics 310- History of the English Language <-- It tickles my linguistic fancy just enough to push me and cultivate educated thoughts without being overwhelming... we just started Old English today!! it is pretty much a different language. WHO9P for those.
Music 190 -Century Singers- <--We're doing Bach and (some other guy? i forget)'s Magnificat(s)
Music 251- Individual Performance- <--Sweet, she didn't freak out about my tongue ring (she actually only saw it for the first time yesterday and didn't flip out. Good news, and I'm starting to be very pleased with my vocal progress (not starting altogether, but starting on a different level; one might say that I'm "kicking it up a notch.") (BAM)
Political Science 206- American National Government-<-- Its exactly what I took at Jesuit, except this time I get multiple choices on the tests instead of essays (I got a 94 on the final which was 7 pages of essay; if I brush up on my government, I should be in good shape)

Clubs:

Fade 2 Black Dance Ensemble- I made the [inclusively]Hip-Hop dance team!!! Yay. hooray for 6 hours a week of hardcore cardio.
TAMU Gymnastics- Shooting for 4 or 5 hours a week of workout
Aggie Global Interaction- a[n originally] business organization which incites... global interaction. French people are cool. It's interesting to see the different cultures come together in one room in Wehner. It makes me happy.
Conversation Partners-I'm to meet with this physics grad student from Russia to palaver about whatever we wish pertaining to our respectable (double entente) cultures and practice his English.. hopefully there will be some reciprocated help on the latter (in Russian, mind you, although I might need a lil' lesson about auxillary verbs...)
Century Singers - (because it should count for more than 1 hour... and its something a choose to be in)(and i love them dearly)

aand yes.... i am quite fairly busy... yet i find time to hang out with mah peeps, go to parties where i go on a jello shot binge (or more exactly on 3 times a jello shot binge, according to the technical definition of "binge" as pertaining to alcohol), be friends with my friends (when they do answer tHEiR phone (-: ), hang in our AWESOME ROOM with (a) badass roommate(s), and EAT. i have been eating an awful lot this semester... but that's ok because at 10 hours of exercise a week, i need that extra nutrition to run my body. I have also been getting adequate sleep (note the difference between adequate and personally sufficient [3 hours], but i'll take what i can get)

i'm already happy with my grades, and to reward myself, i went to half price books yesterday and got 5 books for 2.71$ !! hooray for bargain books. i got a german verb book, a german dictionary, a marx for beginners book, a book 'rethinking middle east politics,' and a webster's pocket reference book (grammar, random things that are good to know). hooray.

and i'm getting my rips (literal rips in my hands that eventually lead to calluses) back on my hands!! hoorah.

i'm gonna go watch tv.... i havent said that in a long time. yay.
and then go to bed.

adios!

Monday, August 21, 2006

fish camp.

AMAZING. you don't even know.

well if you're lucky, perhaps you do.

i just wanna thank all of the fish that make the fish camp experience so awesome. fc really makes me happy i ended up at aTm.

fish camp has also allowed me to only sleep for 9 hours. but oh well.

aaand too many amazing details to list here... if you experienced it you know what it is.

aaand gig 'em week. hooray!

Sunday, August 13, 2006

soo last night dan didnt get in till 6 30. i was on the couch because dan was gonna be in his bed. after he got home i asked my mom to turn off the tv cuz i had to get stuff done today, but she was still watching it. at 6 45 in the fucking morning. come on, mother. that woman is losing all rationale these days. im actually leaving tomorrow, despite attempts to do so today. i went on errands trying to look for things for fishcamp, although all were in vain. it shouldn't be that hard to find green hair dye and green paisley bananas. but whatever.

im out.

Saturday, August 12, 2006

so at this rate, I have one entry per month in the summer. Not too shabby. I'm currently sitting on the ground in my room going through what i want to take back to college and what I don't, carefully arranging the latter into piles that I can easily organize and tidy up in order to please the mother figure with their aestheticity in my absence. I was planning on leaving tomorrow, but im not sure how much i can clean up. I'm ready to get out, though. Packing stuff is trippy to your mind; you say you're going to cut down (I do, at least), but all these little things add up to a pile of shit that just happens to take up all the room in your (my, although we're still being hypothetical) car. Right now i have random clothes (I've packed up all my shirts but not pants) and music i need(/want) to pack up. I want to get to the bottom of it and fold up my bedding and just sleep in my brother's bed so i can get up and get errands (all fish camp-related) done. i am serious about leaving tomorrow. though i found out that my partner has a full house and will not be able to house me.... so i need to find a place to stay before i head off back to aggieland. I really do hope that i end up taking back less than i brough home last year. i really don't need extra shit that i'm not gonna use and don't need. it's 4h21 now so hopefully i can get to bed at 5, get 7 hours of sleep and finish everything i need to in order to leave tomorrow. even if i don't leave tomorrow, i want it to be possible at a moments notice so i don't have to stress about it later. stress now, relax later, i'd rather.

there is a beautiful, out of tune stand up piano in my room that takes up a lot of space.... but i dont wanna get rid of it. it's a family heirloom. my granpa taught my momma how to play on it, i learned how to play on it. much good things attatched to it... but i play my keyboard. i guess what i'm saying is

ahhh i just found my favorite tie from high schoool!!!!!

i'm not gonna lie. i miss wearing a blazer and oxford shirts and different color khakis and ties. oddly enough, most jesuit guys found a way to let personality come out in the myriads of combinations one might be able to make out of those.

but i'm definately gonna find a way to work ties back into my groove.

current dilemmas:

-there's a cd stuck in my computer and it won't eject

-i can only find 1 shoe of like 4 pairs of shoes

-my brother is still out and is gonna be back at 5 supposedly so i can't sleep in his bed... i have to finish mine (it's gonna take a while and its now 4h45)

- i have ADD (it's a more chronic than current dilemma)

-no matter how many times i do the laundry, i ALWAYS find more dirty clothes

i can't wait to leave.

i like the worst-case scenario survival handbook. it is the epitome of useless-but-if-i-ever--needed-to-know-it-i'd-be-SOL-no-more knowledge, which is pretty much kickass to possess.

it's that time to start winding down for the night (5 am)

god i hope i can get everything done tomorrow.

aand i'm out. peace out, people.

fish camp festivites start in about 50 hours!!!!!AHHHH I'M SO EXCITED

as much as one can be at 5am at least

i dont think i've used the am/pm system to reference time in about a year. you see, i'm on international time (military for those of you who know it to be so), cuz i'm just that hardcore about living 'la vie mondiale' (lit.= the worldly life. see: the back of my cellphone)

god im tired. fish camp is not going to help the cause. at all.

Tuesday, July 18, 2006

i've decided that i want to be a dynamic inflence in world politics.

uhhh i dont know what else to write

other than i finished Angels and Demons and i liked it a whole lot more than i did the DaVinci Code.

i went to half price books today. i bought a honkin english/russian dictionary for 10 bucks (goooood deal), The Art of War, and a book on russian politics. i want to get lots of books on foreign affairs and then read them... i dont know where to start!! any suggestions? i might start with sartres and voltaire and lots of classical philosophers and then work toward the present, or i might go scatter drill about it. who knows. if you want to buy john books... i might learn how to lap dance for you. HA. no but really, books are the shiz, now.

aaand i have a paper to write and a test to study for/take in under 6 hours. oh and go visit nana and make tortillas. i might put off the paper, finish the test, and then study for my physics test. am i stressed? i probably should be. but i dont give enough shit to actually care. suprisingly, this method works so much better than all others because i stay happy and dont get discouraged.

aand now back to the paper (on more early us politics circa monroe... i picked my topics at random and its funny how most of them are on foreign policy. cool beans.)

deuces

Tuesday, June 13, 2006

so i have been discouraged by the lack of posts... i've decided that i lead a boring life or i am just boring. either way, that's ok

so today after psychology i went to bookstop in hopes of finding a book on translation. yeah right. i've never seen such material. that doesnt mean i dont want it still, but i have never seen such books. instead, i bought 'the davinci code.' i decided that i wanted to read it, and then watch the movie. already 10 chapters in, i have been greatly rewarded with its allusion to both current and past social/cultural/historical phenomenae, such as attention given to specifications for buildings, the history of the louvre, things like that. i think i give things extra points automatically if they have anything to do with 1 another language, or 2 an interesting foreign place. needless to say, i find both the french language and Paris very interesting. the book quotes often in french without giving the meaning, and i am proud to not be a typical american and look dumbfounded at the line, instead immediately understanding it. and also there's latin in there.

which reminds me. i need to kick my latin back into gear. and my german. and italian. and russian.

but most of all the russian, since i am now looking to gaining back my first semester of russian, when i mistakingly didn't do homework, because it was easy. the extra practice and application would have done me good in the grand scheme of things. but no, i was too busy for russian. but SINCE i have decided to double major in the language, i am going to have to work extra hard as this is the FUCKING HARDEST LANGUAGE I HAVE EVER TRIED TO TACKLE. i have gone to bed on numerous occasions with a headache that we can attribute to studying this language. the hardest thing about it is that every different part of speech has a different ending. and on top of that, each part of speech has different endings based on plurality or singularity. ON TOP OF THAT, there are different endings for masculine, feminine, and neuter. think declining latin nouns on steroids. yeah, it's that bad.

"well if it's so hard, John, why the hell are you gonna major in it?"

quite honestly, i'm doing it to show myself i can. i see it as a challenge, and once i've mastered russian, i believe that it will make latin, german, and other serbian languages look like its bitches. yes. the more languages bitches i have, the better. come, now, you know that's how i roll. also, i don't believe that electrical engineering is the easiest thing in the world to do, either. BUT there are more electrical engineering majors than there are my two majors combined. touche. for me, i'm actually getting a real major (French was simply a byproduct of my background in spanish and french; not hard. at all. i'm already done with my french major, and that's another reason i decided to pick up another major) the beautiful thing about getting a double language major is that all the supporting electives and other core classes count for both majors, so the only difference is the language classes i'm taking (is/are?). english is weird.

in other news, my cochair has made a statement that he needs a translator to understand me

irony, anybody?

oh and this weekend i went down with q to cs and we partied. whoop. it was great seeing those folks again. the downside: 4 hours after going to bed at 5h30, i might, just might, have woke up drunk. needless to say, i felt it at the fish camp activities that ensued. i love those guys. i hate hangovers. done.

leave the comments! lachez les commentaires!!

FIN

Thursday, May 18, 2006

soo i just got back from david's house

cait and casey and david went and saw 'stick it'

i got all the gymnastics jokes, while everyone else didn't even realize that there was a joke said. and then there was johanna... dumb as a rock. and it was hilarious. the main girl was hot. but i was sad to find out that they all had stunt doubles it took the realness away.

and then we went back to david's house and my friends from school met my friends from home. it was good, though one of my friends wasn't warned about how comfortable jesuit guys are about 1. each other 2 their sexuality, and she was a bit taken aback by it. hilarious if you ask me, because she was SURE i had a gay best friend (he was very flirty? not really...), which, unfortunately (not really unfortunately, i could care less), isnt the case. but i love them just the same. we watched that one movie with johnny knoxville in the special olympics... lets just say that today wasn't a great movie day.

i still like 'L'auberge espagnole' you should see it/rent it. it truly embodies the euro spirit and its wonderful. makes me want to go to europe sometime.... oh wait i'm going in a year. which really can't come fast enough.

i need a job. i'm thinking about working at international student services next year, that is if they do hire there.

i'm thinking about going to college station next week to do... well... absolutely nothing. i'm sure it'll be fun. i'll cook stuffing (yum). or even learn how to make YUMMY COBBLER.

speaking of cobbler, the always thoughtful cait smuggled some into the theatre so i could eat it.

i'm pretty sure my mom forgot what she said the other night about not going to college station. and i wonder where i get my great memory from.

its funny to see how my different friends make fun of me for the same thing. like mumbling.

i hate being a mumbler, but i can't help it.

but i do like fruity pebbles and frosted flakes with peanut butter. yum

and this summer i'm gonna work on not being so uptight and defensive about certain topics.

oo which leads me :

summer goals

1. keep on top of the languages!! (russian, german, italian, latin are my targets this summer)

2. find an easier pattern of learning. record such pattern for others to use.

3. find a job for a) summer b) next year

4. keep in shape and fit so gymnastics doesn't kick my ass when i go back in the fall- i was truly inspired at nationals in cali and i am gonna become one of those crazy gymnasts who push themselves for no other reason but to see themselves do it

adios. im tired. i love sleeping.

Wednesday, May 17, 2006

i got a new equation for ya ags

my mother = loca

i come home and she decides to impliment a new schedule of me going to bed at 12 and waking up at 10 so i can 'get in the routine'

before i begin, might i note that i am a young man
there are many flaws to this plan:

1. i need more than 10 hours of sleep. it's more like 12

article 2. i have nothing else to do but sleep, why get up? that makes no sense

3. even if i did have something to do, i dont until summer school which starts june 5 CLEARLY about 20 days away. i'm bound to go to someone's house and stay up forever, completely fucking over my 'sleep schedule'

evidence the 4th. i have no 'sleep schedule' its messed up from a) not having one to begin with b) having an insomniac roommate c) going to college where sleep schedules just aren't static. ever.

and now when she comes in to me playing piano at 2 in the morn (on headphones, mind you) she's like 'well i guess you dont want to go to college station next week ( i was going to take a little vacation from vacation). thats fine'

DUH I WANT TO GO TO COLLEGE STATION!!! TO GET AWAY FROM HERE

my current mood :FRUSTRATED BEYOND BELIEF. and this is only one thing. there are other wonderful facets about life at home.

boo.

on the other hand, i still love my friends as much as ever. they keep me sane. in a very crazy crazy way.

i havent had a drink in a while. i might need one.

any takers?

Tuesday, May 09, 2006

ah. i haven't posted in a while.
